Description

A small switched light for the wall, built on a slim satin nickel backplate and arm that carries a dual faux silk shade in nude beige with a paler moonlight inner. The shade is 12cm across, so the fitting stays neat against the wall and reads as quiet trim rather than something demanding attention. A rocker switch sits on the body, which means the light can be turned on and off where you are standing. It takes a single E14 candle lamp. The photographs show the fitting with a warm gold-toned arm and backplate; the one supplied is satin nickel.

We reach for this beside a bed, where having the switch on the fitting itself saves hunting for a cord in the dark, and on landings or in hallways where a pair either side of a mirror or doorway looks settled. It works well in a narrow space, a small guest room or a reading corner. Fit a dimmable candle lamp and the light can be taken down on a dimmer, and up to 20W is allowed, though a good LED will draw far less than that.

The metalwork wears a satin nickel finish, a soft grey sheen that shows fingermarks less readily than polished chrome. The two-tone shade sends a warm wash through the fabric while the beige outer keeps the glow gentle from the side. Give the shade a light going over with a soft brush and keep liquids away from the fabric; the nickel needs no more than a dry cloth, and only once the power is off and everything is cool to the hand. Keep it to indoor rooms that stay dry. It carries a one year warranty.
