Description

Small in scale and warm in tone, this wall light pairs an antique brass body with a faux silk shade in ivory pearl, lined with white laminate. The shade measures 12cm across, so the fitting sits close to the wall and reads as a quiet detail rather than the loudest thing in the room. A rocker switch on the body means it can be worked where you stand, without reaching for a wall switch. It takes an E14 candle lamp.

We reach for this one in bedrooms, where a pair either side of a bed gives each person their own reading light and the switch falls to hand. It suits narrow hallways and landings too, and small guest rooms where a table lamp would eat the surface it stands on. The light through faux silk is soft and slightly warm, good for late evenings and low level lighting. Fit dimmable lamps and it will dim from a compatible control, though the switch on the fitting is on and off only. It belongs in dry rooms indoors, not bathrooms or porches.

The metalwork carries an aged brass tone that softens the shine and sits happily with older furniture and painted timber. Keep cleaning simple: a soft brush or low suction vacuum over the fabric now and then, a dry cloth on the brass, and polishes and sprays kept well away from the shade. Lamps up to 20W can be used, and we would choose a warm white LED candle for the gentlest light. It carries a one year warranty.
