Description

A small wall light: a white faux silk shade on a matt black arm and backplate. At 12cm across the shade keeps things tight to the wall, and the fitting sits quietly rather than pulling the eye. A rocker switch on the body means it can be turned on and off where you stand, with no reaching for the wall switch. It takes a single E14 lamp; we would fit an LED candle here, and if you want it to dim, choose a dimmable lamp and a dimmer to match.

It earns its place beside a bed, where it frees the table for a book and a glass of water and the switch saves getting up in the dark. It works just as well on a landing, along a hallway, or above a reading chair in a corner that never quite gets enough light. Guest rooms suit it too, being narrow places where a floor lamp would crowd the space. We reach for it where the wall has little room to give but a fabric shade is still wanted.

The arm and backplate are finished in matt black, and the shade is white fabric with a laminate lining.
