Description

A small fabric wall light, with a white faux silk shade set above champagne gold metalwork. The shade measures 12cm across, so the fitting stays tight to the wall and reads as a neat upright shape rather than a broad one. A rocker switch is built in, which means the light is worked at the fitting itself rather than from a switch across the room. It takes an E14 lamp, and we would put a candle shaped LED in it, warm white for a gentler wash.

Wall lights this size earn their keep beside a bed, where the switch on the fitting saves reaching for anything else, and a pair either side of a headboard gives each person their own reading light. It also suits a hallway, a landing, or the shallow wall next to a chimney breast, and it is one we suggest where a table lamp would only crowd the surface. Dimming is possible if you fit dimmable lamps, handy in a bedroom when you want the level down late on.

The shade is faux silk over a laminate lining, white inside and out, and the light it throws is soft and easy on the eye. The champagne gold is warm rather than brassy, so it settles in beside cream, oatmeal and pale timber without fighting them. Dust the fabric with a soft brush, working gently around the seams, and give the metal a dry cloth only, keeping sprays and polishes well clear of both. Keep it to indoor rooms, away from damp and splashes. Lamps up to 20W can be used, and it carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.

How do I clean the fabric shade?

Switch the light off and let it cool, then lift dust with a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum. Avoid water and cleaning fluids on the faux silk.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms only, so it should not be used in a bathroom zone or outdoors.
