Description

Polished chrome metalwork with a dual faux silk shade, 12cm across, in taupe with a halo gold lining. A rocker switch is built in, so it can be worked at the light itself rather than from the doorway. The gold lining puts a little warmth into the light, while the taupe outer keeps the whole thing quiet against a wall. At this size the shade reads as neat rather than ornamental, and the fitting stays close to the wall, which helps in a narrow space.

We would use these either side of a bed, where the switch saves getting up, or put one beside a mirror in a dressing area. It takes an E14 lamp, and a candle LED is what we would fit, up to 20W. Fit dimmable lamps and it will work with a compatible dimming control, though no dimmer comes with it. Bedrooms, landings, a reading corner or a hallway all suit it; it is a dry-room fitting and should stay clear of bathrooms and anywhere it could be rained on.

The chrome is polished to a bright finish, so a dry cloth now and then is enough to keep fingermarks off; the faux silk prefers a soft brush or a light go with the vacuum nozzle, and no sprays. It carries a one year warranty. The taupe and gold pairing sits happily with brass or chrome elsewhere in a room, and we tend to suggest it where a plain white shade would look too stark. We stock it as a small fitting for rooms where a table lamp would take up space they do not have. Lamps are not included.
