Description

Fabric and metal in a compact package: the shade is grey faux silk with a white laminate lining, set on a champagne gold frame that keeps the whole fitting close to the wall. At 12cm across, the shade is small enough to sit beside a bed or in a narrow hall without crowding it. A rocker switch on the body means the light works on its own, independent of anything on the wall. The socket takes an E14 lamp, and a candle shape suits the shade best.

We reach for this where a table lamp has nowhere to stand: beside a bed, in a box room, either side of a mirror, or along a landing that needs light without much projection. The warm metal and soft grey read quietly against painted walls and papered ones alike. Dimming is possible if you fit dimmable lamps and add a dimmer to the circuit; otherwise the rocker switch is all the control needed. We would choose a warm white LED candle for bedside reading, and lamps up to 20W are fine.

The frame is plated metal and the shade fabric over a lined backing. Dust the shade with a soft brush or an upholstery nozzle on low suction, and wipe the metal with a dry cloth once the lamp is cold and the power is off. Sprays and damp cloths are best kept away from the fabric. Bathrooms and covered porches are outside what it is made for, so keep it to dry rooms indoors. It sits happily with plain shades elsewhere in the room, or on its own above a bedside table. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included.
