Description

A compact wall light on a slim antique brass arm, with a 12cm faux silk shade in grey and a white laminate lining that pushes the light forward. A rocker switch sits on the fitting itself, so it can be turned on and off where it sits rather than only at the wall. It takes an E14 candle lamp, and we would fit a warm white LED candle here for a soft, steady glow.

It suits the places where a table lamp has nowhere to stand: either side of a bed, a narrow landing, the wall beside a favourite chair. With the switch to hand you can read and then reach up to turn it off without crossing the room. The projection is modest, so it sits happily in a hallway or beside a door without catching shoulders. Keep it to dry indoor rooms, well away from bathrooms and anywhere it might meet steam or spray.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, warm and gently aged rather than bright, and it sits kindly against the grey of the shade. Dimming is possible if you choose dimmable lamps and use them with a suitable dimmer, both bought separately. For care, go over the shade with a soft brush or a vacuum on its lowest setting, and give the brass nothing more than a dry cloth; we would keep polishes and aerosol sprays well away from it. Lamps are not included, and anything up to 20W will do. It carries a one year warranty. This is one we reach for in rooms where the light matters more than the fitting does, and it takes well to a plain shade elsewhere in the same room.
