Description

Small, plain and genuinely useful: a wall light in polished chrome with a rocker switch set into the body, so it can be turned on where you are standing rather than from the switch plate by the door. The backplate and short arm are kept simple, and the projection is modest, which helps in a narrow hallway or a tight alcove. It arrives without a shade, and that is part of the appeal, because the E14 holder is left ready for whatever you choose to put above it: a small fabric shade, a glass, or a decorative candle lamp on show.

We reach for it beside a bed, where a switch on the fitting itself means no fumbling across to the wall late at night, and it works just as well flanking a mirror in a dressing area or lighting a small study. At 11cm wide it reads as a modest fitting rather than a feature, so a pair either side of a headboard will not crowd the wall. It takes an E14 lamp up to 20W, and an LED candle is what we would fit; choose a dimmable lamp if you want it on a dimmer circuit.

The polished chrome is bright and mirror-like, so it looks best kept clean: switch it off, wait until the lamp is cold, then buff the metal with a dry microfibre cloth. Fingerprints show near the rocker, so that is the part worth a wipe now and then. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; a bathroom, a porch or an unheated outbuilding would be asking too much of it. It carries a one year warranty. We stock plain chrome here, and it pairs happily with chrome switch plates and a clear or amber candle lamp. Shade and lamp are both supplied separately.
