Description

Three arms rise from a central stem and sit within a wide drum of faux silk, so the fitting reads as a soft cylinder of light rather than a row of small points. The shade is 50cm across and shallow in proportion, which keeps the whole piece broad and low slung above a table. Its dual fabric brings midnight black together with champagne gold, a pairing that stays quiet in daylight and warms up once the lamps are on. The suspension can be set short for a low ceiling or let out to hang further into the room.

It earns its keep over a dining table, where the shade spreads light evenly across the surface and nothing dangles into the sightline between diners. Deep hallways and stairwells take it well, and it works in a large bedroom where a pair of bedside pendants would crowd things. We would fit warm white LED candle lamps on the E14 sockets, which suit the fabric and give a steady glow through it. Dimmable lamps let the level drop for the evening, though the dimmer switch itself is a separate purchase.

The frame is metal and the shade is fabric covered, so it belongs in a dry room away from steam, cooking splashes and open windows. For upkeep, go over the fabric now and then with a soft brush or the low setting on a vacuum brush head, and keep water off it, because faux silk marks when rubbed damp.
