Description

Three arms rise from a champagne gold body and sit beneath a single faux silk shade, so the light reads as one soft glow rather than a row of separate points. The shade is ivory pearl, a warm off-white that picks up colour from the room around it, and at 45cm across it has presence without much visual weight. Inside, a white laminate lining throws the light straight down. We like the quiet contrast of the metalwork against the fabric, which keeps the gold understated.

We would hang it over a dining table, where the width covers a good sized top and the downward throw lands on plates rather than in eyes. It also suits a wide hallway, a landing, or a larger bedroom. The drop adjusts, running out as far as 1.8m, so it works under a high ceiling or over a stairwell as well as in a room of ordinary height. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a suitable dimmer, and that is how we would set it up where the mood shifts through the evening.

The shade is faux silk with a white laminate lining, carried on champagne gold metalwork. For care, run a soft brush lightly over the outside of the fabric now and then, and keep sprays and damp cloths well away from it; the metal wants nothing more than a dry cloth. Keep it to dry, heated rooms, away from bathrooms and anywhere steam gathers. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and candle lamps on an E14 socket suit it best; we would choose LED candles in a warm white to flatter the ivory.
