Description

A wide drum of dual faux silk hangs from a champagne gold frame, with the arms and their candle lampholders set inside the shade so the light sources stay out of view. The outer face is nude beige, soft and warm rather than stark, and the moonlight lining catches whatever passes through it, giving a gentle glow across the underside. At 50cm across, it has real presence without heaviness, and the shallow depth of the shade keeps the whole thing feeling light on the eye.

It suits a dining table, a wide hallway or a sitting room where you want one broad shape overhead instead of several smaller ones. The suspension can be shortened or let down, so it works over a table at low level or higher in a room with generous ceilings. Three lamps behind fabric give a soft, even wash rather than sharp pools, and with dimmable lamps fitted the output can be taken down to something quieter for the evening. We would reach for warm white candle lamps here to keep the beige and gold reading richly rather than washing out.

The frame is metal in a champagne gold finish, brushed rather than mirror bright, and the shade is faux silk over a fabric-covered drum with a contrasting inner face.
