Description

Three matt black arms sit beneath a wide, shallow shade in ivory pearl faux silk, so the lamps are carried under the drum rather than hidden inside it. At 50cm across it reads broad and low, and the fabric softens the light on its way through. Shallow shades like this keep sight lines across a table clear, which is part of why we stock the shape. It takes small candle lamps on E14 sockets, and LED candles are what we would put in ours.

The drop can be set short for a hallway ceiling or let down over a dining table, as far as 1.8m, so the light gathers where people sit. We reach for it in rooms where one small pendant would look lost above a long table, and it works over a kitchen island or in a bedroom, where fabric keeps the light gentle. Dimming is possible with dimmable lamps and a separate dimmer, neither of which comes in the box. It is for dry indoor rooms on a normal household supply.

The shade is faux silk backed with a white laminate lining, and the metalwork wears a matt black finish that holds its own against the pale drum. Fabric wants a gentle touch: run a soft brush or the upholstery tool of a vacuum over the outer face to lift dust, and wipe the black parts with a dry cloth. Avoid sprays and damp cloths on the shade itself. It carries a one year warranty. Black and ivory sit well in a room that already has dark handles, frames or ironmongery, and the width means this can be the only fitting a small dining room needs. Lamps are not included.
