Description

A wide, shallow shade sits on three arms of champagne gold metalwork, the shade itself made up of gold foil and white laminate. At 50cm across it reads as a long horizontal line rather than a tall shape, and the drop adjusts over a good span, so it can sit up tight beneath a low ceiling or hang lower where you want the light nearer a surface. Each arm holds a small candle lamp on an E14 socket, spreading the output across the width of the shade instead of concentrating it in one spot.

We would put this over a dining table first, where the breadth of the shade suits the length of a top and the light falls onto plates rather than into eyes. It also earns its place in a bedroom above a chest of drawers, or in a generous hallway where a narrow pendant would look mean against the space. Fit dimmable lamps and it will run happily from a dimmer switch; LED candles are what we reach for here, and they keep the shade cooler in a room that gets long evening use. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, running from the ordinary household mains.

The metalwork is finished in a soft champagne gold that stays pale and warm rather than turning brassy, and the foil on the shade picks up whatever daylight is in the room even when the pendant is switched off.
