Description

The Bangkok is a 40cm LED pendant light with a transparent glass shade suspended on a matt black metal frame. An integrated 12W LED sits within a black metal collar at the centre of the glass, casting downward task light through the lower glass hemisphere while the upper hemisphere remains unlit. The vertical black rod runs through the centre of the glass, creating a central axis that divides the shade into symmetrical halves.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and central living room positions, the Bangkok pairs ambient and task lighting through its directional LED placement. The 40cm diameter suits rooms 3-4m wide, providing sufficient downward illumination for a 120-160cm dining table or kitchen island without overwhelming the space. The cable drop adjusts from 68cm minimum to 358cm maximum on installation, allowing the pendant to be set 70-80cm above a table surface in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m up to 4.4m.

The transparent glass shows the internal LED mechanism and black collar as part of the design rather than concealing them, creating a visible contrast between the industrial black metal components and the clear glass enclosure. The matt black finish on the frame, canopy and central rod absorbs reflections and pairs with both monochrome and warm-toned contemporary interiors. The glass shade is smooth rather than textured, giving clean light distribution without patterned shadows.

The integrated LED delivers 3000K warm white light at 12W output, equivalent to approximately 60-75W incandescent brightness. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only — not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor applications. The metal construction and glass shade combine to give the fitting a substantial presence on the cable without requiring additional counterweights.

Is the Bangkok dimmable?

The integrated 12W LED is not dimmable. The light output is fixed at 3000K warm white. If dimming capability is required, consider alternative Maytoni models with replaceable E27 bulb fittings that allow dimmer-compatible LED bulbs to be fitted.

What ceiling height is needed?

The adjustable cable allows drops from 68cm to 358cm. For a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically hangs 70-80cm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards. Taller spaces up to 4.4m ceiling height can use the full cable extension.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations with no moisture exposure. Bathrooms require IP44 or higher rated fittings. The Bangkok is designed for living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens and hallways only.

How is the glass shade cleaned?

The transparent glass can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and standard glass cleaner. Switch off at the mains before cleaning and allow the LED to cool. The black metal components can be wiped with a dry cloth to remove dust.
