The Balm rope garden dining armchair sets a frame of round extruded aluminium tube against a back of hand-braided marine rope that curves from one arm to the other. Its seat and back cushions are included, made in the outdoor fabric you choose and removable. The chair is 63cm wide, 61cm deep and 80cm high, with a seat height of 45cm for sitting at a dining table. The arms sit at 65cm, so measure under your table top if you like chairs to tuck in.

We like it round a garden dining table, on a terrace or patio, or on a timber deck, at home or on a restaurant terrace. You choose the look: five powder-coated frame colours, including Textured White, Stone and Beige Grey; five rope colours, such as Frost Ivory, Plaza Taupe and Cool Brown; and forty-six outdoor fabrics in acrylic, polyolefin and Vinytex, among them Pan White, Wabi Ecru and Pan Bone. Every chair is designed and made to order in Barcelona, Spain, in the combination you pick.

The frame is extruded aluminium with a polyester powder coating, and the back is 5mm marine rope, polyester thread hand-braided over a nylon core; it is made for outdoor use and resists weathering and sunlight. The cushions are filled with polyether fibre and foam. The design is by Estudi Manel Molina, and the maker's guarantee runs five years for domestic use and two for commercial use, with cushions, covers and fabrics not covered. Wash the frame with warm water, neutral soap and a non-abrasive cloth, rinse and dry it to avoid water marks. Sponge the fabrics with neutral soap in plenty of water, never harsh chemicals; the acrylic fabrics wash at 30°C. Lift the cushions off to clean or store them.
