Designed for living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms where a central ceiling light needs to provide ambient coverage without dropping low into the room, the Balbo's cluster arrangement spreads light across all angles rather than directing it downward. The eight globes are arranged in tiers — two central, six surrounding — giving the fitting a sculptural presence when viewed from below. The 50cm diameter works in rooms from 12-20m², providing enough scale to anchor a typical living room or principal bedroom without overwhelming smaller spaces.

The smoky glass finish on each globe shifts in appearance depending on whether the bulbs are lit. When off, the glass reads as a solid charcoal grey with minimal transparency. When lit, the warm glow from G9 halogen or LED bulbs illuminates the glass from within, creating a gradient effect where the edges remain darker and the centre glows amber. The polished nickel frame provides a clean metallic contrast that pairs with both warm-toned and cooler contemporary interiors. At IP20 rating, the fitting is suitable for dry indoor locations only.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The 29.5cm drop from ceiling to the lowest point of the glass cluster works in rooms with standard 2.4m ceiling heights, leaving approximately 2.1m clearance below the fitting. This makes it appropriate for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways where a flush or semi-flush mount is preferred over a pendant.

Can the smoky glass be seen through when lit?

The glass is heavily tinted. When the bulbs are off, the globes appear as solid charcoal grey. When lit, the warm glow from the G9 bulbs illuminates the glass from within, creating a gradient where the centre glows amber and the edges remain darker. The glass is translucent rather than transparent, so individual bulb filaments are not visible.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the G9 bulbs you choose. Halogen G9 bulbs are universally dimmable. LED G9 bulbs must be marked as dimmable on the packaging and paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming.
