Description

The Badd is a 200mm square outdoor wall light with a graphite aluminium housing, an acrylic diffuser front and an integrated 10W 3000K LED. The IP54 rating protects the internals from dust ingress and water splashes, making it suitable for exterior wall mounting in UK weather conditions on entrance porches, garden walls and covered terrace positions.

Designed for even wash lighting across vertical and horizontal surfaces, the acrylic diffuser spreads the 10W LED output across a broad area rather than casting a focused beam. This makes the Badd effective for marking entrance points, lighting steps and pathways where ambient visibility is needed rather than directed task light. The 70mm projection from the wall gives clearance over standard UK brick coursing without catching on rainwater downpipes or wall-mounted gate hardware.

The graphite powder-coated finish on the aluminium housing resists corrosion and fading under UV exposure. The square profile and minimal detailing pair with modern, industrial and minimalist architecture where clean lines are preferred over ornamental fittings. The 3000K colour temperature delivers warm white light that sits comfortably with brick, render, timber cladding and stone finishes without the blue-white cast of cooler LEDs.

No. The 10W LED is integrated into the housing and designed to last the lifetime of the fitting. Maytoni rate this at approximately 25,000 hours, equivalent to 8-10 years of typical evening-only outdoor use.

Can it be used in exposed locations?

The IP54 rating protects against dust and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for porches, covered terraces and sheltered garden walls. For fully exposed positions subject to driving rain or direct hose-down cleaning, a higher IP rating (IP65 or above) would be recommended.

What fixing method does it use?

The Badd mounts via a rear wall plate with two fixing points. Standard UK wall plugs and screws are suitable for brick, block or rendered masonry. The wiring connects behind the wall plate before the acrylic diffuser front clips into place.

Does it cast light up and down or just forward?

The acrylic diffuser casts light primarily forward from the wall in a broad spread. There is minimal upward or downward spill due to the sealed housing design, so this is a wash light rather than an up/down wall light.
