Description

A frosted oval of glass sits in a slim black surround, giving a soft, even glow rather than a hard point of light. It spans 21cm along the wall and projects only 8cm, so it stays well clear of a door swing or a narrow path. The E27 socket takes an ordinary GLS lamp of up to 40W, and we would fit an LED and forget about it. It is sealed against rain and splashing, which is what an exposed wall asks for.

This is the sort of light we reach for on a back door, a side passage or a porch where something plain and low-profile does the job better than a lantern. Fitted either side of a garage door they look tidy, and a run along a garden wall gives light at ankle and waist height without glare. It suits anyone after quiet, useful light outdoors at a modest price. With a compatible lamp and dimmer it will dim, so it can drop to a low level for evenings on a patio.

The body is finished in black and the diffuser is frosted glass, a pairing that hides grime better than clear glass and stays unobtrusive by day. Keep it looking right by switching off at the wall, letting things cool, then lifting dust and cobwebs off the glass with a damp cloth and drying it. Grit brought in by wind is the usual culprit outdoors, so a wipe each season is plenty. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same oval in white, and a round version in both black and white if you prefer a circle. Lamps are not included.
