Description

The AV:Link RCA socket to RCA socket coupler is a back-to-back inline adaptor with female RCA phono sockets at both ends, allowing two male-terminated RCA cables to be joined together to extend cable runs. The centre pin and outer shield maintain full contact through the adaptor body, preserving signal integrity for composite video and unbalanced audio connections.

Commonly used when an existing RCA cable is too short to reach between a DVD player and TV, between a games console and AV receiver, or when extending turntable audio cables in a hi-fi setup. The coupler works equally well for composite video (yellow RCA), stereo audio (red/white RCA), or mono audio connections. The compact barrel design sits inline without adding bulk to the cable run.

The outer body is moulded black plastic with polished metal RCA sockets at each end. The sockets grip standard RCA plugs firmly enough to prevent accidental disconnection but release cleanly when pulled. Because the adaptor is passive (no internal circuitry), it introduces no signal loss beyond the marginal resistance of the additional contact points, making it suitable for runs up to several metres without degradation.

Frequently Asked

Does it work for both audio and video?

Yes. The coupler is electrically identical for composite video (typically yellow RCA cables) and unbalanced audio (red/white RCA). It carries the signal between the two cable sections without filtering or modification.

Will it degrade the signal?

The adaptor is passive and introduces only the marginal resistance of the additional contact points. For typical home AV runs (under 5-10m total cable length after joining), signal degradation is negligible. Very long runs or professional-grade installations may benefit from direct cabling without intermediate adaptors.

Can it be used for subwoofer connections?

Yes. Subwoofer LFE connections typically use RCA cables, so this adaptor will extend a subwoofer cable run if needed. The low-frequency signals carried by subwoofer connections are not affected by the inline join.
