Our AV:Link Magic Eye remote control extender lets you operate a digital satellite box from another room in the house. It connects between the coaxial cable and the aerial socket (US: antenna socket) on the back of your TV, so the signal from your satellite remote is passed through to the receiver in the room where the box lives.

The IR receiver, known as the eye, sits on top of the TV and picks up the signal from your handset. An 800mm lead runs between the main unit and the eye, giving you room to position each part where it works best. The main unit measures 50 x 29 x 20mm and the receiver 18mm long by 29mm diameter, so both stay tidy and out of the way once fitted. The whole thing weighs 75g and uses 3C2V cable.

Power is drawn from the satellite box at 9Vdc, so there is no separate plug or battery to worry about. This is a simple way to change channels without moving the box from room to room, and it arrives in a sealed retail bag ready to fit. If you keep your satellite box tucked away in one room but watch on a TV elsewhere, this does the job with the minimum of fuss.
