Description

The AV:Link HDMI to Scart converter accepts HDMI v1.3 video signals at up to 60fps and converts them to analogue Scart output in either PAL or NTSC format. The converter handles digital-to-analogue conversion in real-time without introducing lag, allowing modern HDMI sources to connect to older Scart-equipped televisions and projectors that lack HDMI inputs.

Designed for use with Blu-ray players, games consoles, Sky HD boxes, laptops and other HDMI-output devices, the converter sits inline between the source and the display. A PAL/NTSC switch on the unit selects the output format to match the requirements of the connected display. The converter draws power via a USB cable (included) from a USB port on the source device or a separate USB mains adapter.

The compact black enclosure measures 88.5 x 57.5 x 25mm and weighs 60g, sitting discreetly behind a TV or alongside AV equipment. The HDMI input accepts cables up to 7m in length, while the Scart output supports cables up to 8m, giving flexibility in placement. The converter operates across a temperature range of -10°C to 55°C and requires no drivers or software installation — connection and format selection are the only setup steps required.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between PAL and NTSC output?

PAL is the broadcast standard used in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of the world outside North America and Japan. NTSC is used primarily in North America and Japan. UK and European Scart TVs require PAL output. The converter includes a physical switch to select the correct format for your display.

Does it convert audio as well as video?

Yes. The converter processes both the video and audio components of the HDMI signal and outputs them through the Scart connector. The Scart output carries stereo audio alongside the composite video signal.

What powers the converter?

The converter draws 5V DC power via a USB cable (included). You can power it from a USB port on your source device (such as a Blu-ray player or games console) or from a separate USB mains adapter. Maximum current draw is 600mA.

Is there any lag or delay in the conversion?

No. The converter performs real-time digital-to-analogue conversion with no perceptible delay, making it suitable for gaming and live broadcast where timing matters.
