Description

This AV:Link Cat7 patch lead (also called a network or Ethernet cable) gives you a solid wired connection over a 15m run. It's built with oxygen-free 26AWG copper twisted pairs and carries data at up to 10Gbps, so it's well suited to fast home and office networks where a reliable link matters more than a wireless signal that drops in and out.

The shielding is where this lead does its work. Each pair has its own aluminium foil screen, and the whole bundle sits inside an overall braided aluminium screen. That's what the S/FTP label means, and it helps keep out both internal crosstalk between the pairs and alien crosstalk from nearby cables. The result is a cleaner signal at bandwidths up to 600MHz, which is useful in busy setups with several cables running side by side.

The RJ45 connectors are snag-free, so the small plastic clip won't catch or snap when you're routing the cable behind furniture or through a cabinet. The cable itself measures 6.2mm in diameter and comes in black. Shorter lengths in the range arrive in a sealed retail bag, though at 15m this lead covers longer runs between rooms, floors or a router and a distant device. It's a straightforward choice when you want dependable throughput without relying on Wi-Fi.
