Description

This AV:Link Cat6a FTP patch lead gives you a flat, low-profile cable that's easy to route where space is tight. The design sits neatly inside narrow trunking or can be chased across walls and ceilings, so you can keep runs tidy in professional installs and around the home. At 5.0 metres, it covers a useful distance between your router, switch or wall point and the device you want to connect.

Inside, you get pure oxygen-free 30AWG copper conductors arranged in twisted pairs. Each pair has its own aluminium foil screen (FTP, or foiled twisted pair), which helps protect the signal from alien crosstalk and outside interference. The lead supports frequencies up to 500MHz and data transfer up to 10Gbps, so it's suited to high-speed networking, streaming and file transfers. The connectors are snag-free RJ45 plugs, so they won't catch as you feed the cable through openings.

The flat cable measures 7.6mm wide and 2.6mm thick, which is what lets it tuck away so easily compared with a round patch cable. It comes in white and is supplied in a sealed, retail-friendly bag on the shorter lengths. Whether you're wiring an office, a studio or a spare room, this lead is a practical choice when you need reliable Cat6a performance without bulky cabling getting in the way.

Frequently Asked

What is FTP shielding?

FTP stands for foiled twisted pair. Each pair of conductors has its own aluminium foil screen, which helps protect the signal from alien crosstalk and outside interference for steadier performance.

What speeds does this lead support?

It supports data transfer of up to 10Gbps and frequencies up to 500MHz, so it's suitable for high-speed networking and streaming.

Why choose a flat cable over a round one?

The flat design is only 2.6mm thick, so it slides into narrow trunking or under carpets and can be chased across walls and ceilings where a round cable would be too bulky.

What connectors does it use?

It has snag-free RJ45 connectors at both ends, which won't catch when you feed the cable through tight openings.

What length is this lead?

This version is 5.0 metres long, giving you plenty of reach between your network point and your device.

Is the copper solid or clad?

It uses pure oxygen-free 30AWG copper conductors, not copper-clad aluminium, for consistent conductivity.
