Description

This is a Cat6 Ethernet patch lead (also called a patch cable) from AV:Link, terminated with an RJ45 plug at each end. It measures 0.5m and uses a stranded copper conductor rated 25AWG, made up of seven 0.18mm strands. The unshielded twisted pair (UTP) construction keeps things flexible and easy to route, while the snag-less moulded boots stop the retaining clip catching or snapping when you pull the lead through a rack or behind furniture.

Built to Cat6, the lead supports frequencies up to 250 MHz and high-speed data transmission up to 1,000Mbps (1Gbps). The design aims for uniform impedance, very low return loss and a higher signal-to-noise ratio, which helps keep data moving cleanly across the run. It stays fully backwards compatible with your existing network, so you can use it alongside older Cat5e gear without any trouble.

Use it to connect PCs, printers, servers, routers and switch boxes, or anything else that takes a wired RJ45 connection. The overall cable diameter is 6.0mm, giving a good balance of copper content and flexibility for tidy patching. Shorter lengths like this 0.5m lead come supplied in a sealed, retail-friendly bag, so they arrive clean and ready to fit.

Frequently Asked

What does Cat6 UTP mean?

UTP stands for unshielded twisted pair. It means the internal wire pairs are twisted to reduce interference but the lead has no additional shielding, keeping it flexible and easy to route.

How fast is this lead?

It supports frequencies up to 250 MHz and data rates up to 1,000Mbps, which is 1Gbps. That suits Gigabit networking as well as slower connections.

Will it work with my older network kit?

Yes. It is fully backwards compatible, so you can use it with existing Cat5e equipment, routers, switches and PCs that use a standard RJ45 socket.

What does snag-less mean?

The moulded boot covers the plug's retaining clip so it does not catch or break when you pull the lead through cabinets, racks or gaps behind furniture.

What length is this lead?

This version is 0.5m long, with an RJ45 plug at each end.

Is the conductor solid or stranded?

It uses stranded copper, made from seven 0.18mm strands at 25AWG. Stranded conductors stay more flexible for patching between nearby devices.
