Description

The AV:Link Cat6 RJ45 ethernet module is a 50mm x 25mm keystone insert that presents a standard RJ45 socket on the front face and 180° punchdown IDC connectors on the rear. The module clips into compatible wall plate frames, allowing concealed Cat6 network cable terminations without visible cable runs. The module is backwards compatible with Cat5e and Cat5 cabling.

Designed for residential, commercial and educational network installations, the module fits AV:Link's modular wall plate frames (122.500UK and 122.505UK) which accept multiple keystone modules in a single faceplate. The 180° punchdown terminals on the rear are colour-coded to both T568A and T568B wiring standards, making termination straightforward for installers familiar with structured cabling. The keystone design allows the module to be removed from the front of the wall plate for easier cable termination before being clipped back into position.

The module measures 50mm wide, 25mm high and 32mm deep, with the 32mm depth accommodating the IDC terminals and the twisted pair cable entry. At 12g the module adds minimal weight to a multi-gang installation. The Cat6 rating supports gigabit ethernet (1000BASE-T) and is suitable for most residential and small office network requirements. The RJ45 socket accepts standard ethernet patch cables with the same latching connector found on routers, switches and networked devices.

What wall plate frames does this fit?

The module fits AV:Link's modular wall plate frames, specifically the 122.500UK (single-gang) and 122.505UK (double-gang) frames. These frames accept standard keystone modules and mount to UK back boxes.

Is it compatible with Cat5e cable?

Yes. The module is rated for Cat6 but is backwards compatible with Cat5e and Cat5 cabling. If you terminate Cat5e cable to this module, the link will perform at Cat5e speeds, not Cat6.

What's the difference between 180° and 90° punchdown?

180° punchdown means the IDC terminals face straight back from the module, making cable entry easier in shallow back boxes. 90° punchdown terminals face downwards, which can be more compact but requires more depth behind the wall plate.

Can the module be removed after installation?

Yes. The keystone design allows the module to be clipped out from the front of the wall plate frame without removing the frame from the wall, making it easier to terminate cables or replace a faulty module.
