Description

This AV:Link Cat5e patch lead connects your network devices with a straightforward RJ45 plug to RJ45 plug design. At 15 metres long, it gives you plenty of reach for wiring rooms, running cables along skirting boards, or linking equipment that sits some distance apart. The lead handles both 100Base-T and 1000Base-T ethernet, so it suits standard home broadband setups as well as gigabit networks that need a bit more speed.

Inside, the cable uses solid 24AWG copper clad aluminium in a twisted pair layout. This construction keeps signal interference down and supports transmission at GHz speeds, which is what you want when moving larger files or streaming across a wired connection. The four twisted pairs sit within a 5mm overall diameter jacket, and each core measures 0.51mm in diameter, giving the lead a neat but sturdy build that copes well with everyday routing around the home or office.

You can use this patch lead (sometimes called a patch cable or network cable) between routers, switches, computers, games consoles, smart TVs and any other RJ45 equipped device. The UTP, or unshielded twisted pair, format keeps things flexible and easy to handle. Shorter lengths in the range arrive in a sealed retail bag, though at 15 metres this is a longer run better suited to fixed installations where you need the cable to cover a decent stretch.
