Description

Our AV:Link Cat5e patch lead connects your network devices over a 10.0m run, with an RJ45 plug at each end. It suits home and office setups where you need to link a router, switch, network wall socket or computer without being tied to a shorter cable. The lead handles 100Base-T and 1000Base-T ethernet, so it keeps pace with standard and gigabit connections. A patch lead is sometimes called a patch cord or network cable, and this one does the same job whichever term you use.

Inside, the conductors are solid 24AWG copper clad aluminium arranged as a twisted pair, which keeps interference down across the length of the run. The core measures 4 x 2 x 0.51mm diameter per pair, and the overall cable diameter is 5mm, so it stays slim enough to route neatly behind desks and along skirting. It is capable of transmitting at GHz speed, which means it holds up for gigabit ethernet where your hardware supports it.

This is an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) design, a common and practical choice for typical indoor networking. Shorter lengths in the range arrive in a sealed retail-friendly bag, so they are tidy to store and easy to display. At 10 metres, this lead gives you room to reach across a room or between floors where a shorter cable would leave you short. It is a straightforward, reliable way to get devices talking to one another on your network.
