Description

This camcorder lead connects a camcorder to a TV or audio source using a single 4-pole 3.5mm jack plug at one end and three RCA phono plugs (also called cinch plugs in some regions) at the other. The three phono plugs are colour coded for typical audio/video use: red for right audio, white for left audio and yellow for video. That layout matches the standard on most camcorders and displays, so you can plug in and get sound and picture without any guesswork.

The cable is screened to help keep interference out, which matters when you are running audio and video signals side by side over a couple of metres. Each of the three cores measures 2.6mm in diameter, with a 10/0.1mm conductor, and the full lead runs to 2.0m. That length gives you enough reach to sit a camcorder near a TV or amplifier without the lead pulling tight, while staying short enough to avoid loose slack around your setup.

The 3.5mm jack (known as a 3.5mm plug in the UK and a 1/8-inch plug in the US) uses a TRRS connector to carry the separate audio and video channels down one plug. The lead weighs 180g and arrives in a sealed retail bag. It suits anyone who wants to play back footage straight from a camcorder onto a bigger screen, or route the audio through a separate system.
