Description

This 8K HDMI audio extractor pulls audio out of a single HDMI source and sends it where you need it. It splits off digital audio via HDMI, Toslink (optical) and coaxial, plus analogue stereo through a 3.5mm jack, while passing the video signal on to your screen. Video resolutions run up to 7680 x 4320 at 60Hz, with a maximum baud rate of 40Gbps and 8/10/12 bit deep colour support.

Setup is plug and play, so you connect your source, output and audio device, and the unit syncs without delay. It handles newer formats including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and HDR10, which makes it a sensible match for the latest PCs and games consoles. Audio output over HDMI covers PCM2.0, LPCM5.1/7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby True HD, Dolby Atmos and the full DTS range up to DTS:X. Optical and coaxial outputs carry LPCM and Dolby Digital up to 5.1, while the 3.5mm jack gives you analogue stereo.

Power comes from the supplied UK mains adaptor at DC5V/1A, with a USB-C connection handling the input. The housing has a brushed metal finish and measures 121 x 57 x 19mm, weighing 118g, so it sits neatly on a desk or in an AV rack. For best results, keep input cables at 3m or less and output cables at 5m or less when running 8K at 60Hz. It is a straightforward way to separate audio from your source when your amplifier or speakers do not share the same connections as your display.
