Description
This AV:Link HDMI lead uses active fibre optic technology, known as AOC, to carry the signal over long distances without the degradation you get from standard copper cables. It supports video resolutions up to 8K Ultra High Definition at 60Hz, with video bandwidth up to 48Gb/s and full HDMI 2.1 support. At 20m long, it suits situations where the source and display sit well apart, such as a projector run or a wall-mounted screen fed from another room.
The stand-out feature here is the detachable plug on one end, which we designed with installers in mind. Remove the plug and you reveal a micro HDMI connector with a smaller diameter, so you only need to drill a 12mm hole to route the cable through a wall or cabinet. Once the run is in place, push the plug firmly and fully back on to restore a secure connection. The 4.8mm outer diameter cable stays flexible over long distances, making it easier to pull through tight spaces and conduit.
The head shells (US: connector housings) are made from alloy with gold plated connectors for reliable contact. The lead is HDCP 2.2 compliant, so it works with protected 4K and 8K content. Because one end terminates in a micro HDMI plug when the housing is removed, this lead can also connect to smaller devices with a Micro HDMI socket, such as a Raspberry Pi, camcorders and tablets. It is a practical choice for fixed installation work where cable routing and picture quality both matter.

Frequently Asked
What resolution does this HDMI lead support?
It supports video resolutions up to 8K Ultra High Definition (7680 x 4320p) at 60Hz, with a data transfer rate up to 48Gb/s under HDMI 2.1.
How does the detachable plug help with installation?
When you remove the plug on one end, it reveals a micro HDMI connector with a reduced diameter. This means you only need to drill a 12mm hole to route the cable, rather than a larger opening for a full-size plug.
Why choose fibre optic over a standard HDMI cable?
Active fibre optic (AOC) carries the signal over much greater distances than standard copper cables without degradation, which is why this 20m lead maintains picture quality across the full length.
Is this lead HDCP compliant?
Yes, it is HDCP 2.2 compliant, so it works with copy-protected 4K and 8K content.
Can I use it with smaller devices?
Yes. With the plug removed, the micro HDMI end connects to devices with a Micro HDMI socket, such as a Raspberry Pi, camcorders and tablets.
What do I need to check when reattaching the plug?
Make sure the plug is pushed firmly and fully back into place. This keeps the connection secure and maintains signal quality.
