In our homes we like a side table that pulls its weight without crowding a room, and this is exactly what we reach for when a corner needs something small and useful. The round top gives us a spot for a lamp, a book and a morning cup, while the open shelf beneath keeps a few extras close to hand. At 38cm across and 59.3cm tall, it slots neatly beside a sofa or an armchair, and the compact footprint means we can move it around a room as our seating shifts through the seasons.

The fluted tambour drum body is what gives this piece its character. We love how the vertical ridges catch the light and add texture to the Dark Oak, while the Charcoal colour keeps the whole thing grounded and calm rather than showy. It stands on four round tapered legs that lift the body just enough to feel light in a room, and the open shelf breaks up the drum so it never reads as bulky. Made from solid oak, MDF and polyester as part of our Horizons S range, it weighs 9kg and holds its own against everyday use. It carries the Global Recycled Standard and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certifications, which matters to us.

Assembly takes around 30 minutes and there is a video to walk you through it, so you will not be left guessing. Once built, the top takes a maximum load of 50kg and the shelf up to 15kg, with those figures assuming weight is spread evenly across the surface rather than piled to one side. To keep the Dark Oak looking its best we wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh cleaners, which lets the matt Charcoal finish and the fluted grain stay sharp for years of use.
