Description

Our starting point here was the material: solid oak, oak veneer and MDF form the body of this tv bench, which we finish in Black Oak with a Charcoal covering across the fronts. We wanted a piece with real presence at floor level, so we gave it a long low profile: 140cm wide, 46cm deep and 40cm high. The rounded body softens the lines, and the four round tapered legs lift it clear of the floor so the whole thing reads as light rather than heavy.

The face is our favourite part. Fluted tambour doors slide across the front rather than swinging open, so you never lose room to a door arc, and the vertical ribbing catches the light along its length. Behind them we have kept the storage practical, with a shelf rated to hold up to 15kg and a top surface that takes up to 120kg when the weight sits evenly across it. That top gives you a steady base for a table lamp, a few books or a run of framed prints, while the media sits tidily out of sight. At 18.75kg the bench is manageable to position, and assembly takes around 30 minutes from box to finished piece.

We hold this design to the EN 16121 and EN 16122 furniture standards, and the textiles carry Global Recycled Standard and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification, so we can tell you exactly what has gone into it. The Charcoal tone keeps company with warm woods and pale walls alike, and we think the tambour detail earns its place in a room you actually use. It is an indoor piece, made to live at the centre of things.
