Description

Made from solid oak with an artificial leather detail, our Audacious Black Oak Sideboard brings together considered materials in a piece that sits low and long. The body is finished in Black Oak, a deep and grounding tone we chose to give the rounded form real presence, while the Sterling colourway carries a soft, cool-toned neutral across the surface. Alongside the oak we have worked with polyester and MDF, and every part is held to the Global Recycled Standard and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, so the make-up of the piece is as accountable as it is handsome.

The shape is what we return to again and again. Rather than a flat front, this sideboard has a gently rounded body fitted with fluted tambour sliding doors, their vertical ridges catching light as they run left and right. It rests on four round tapered legs, which lift the whole thing off the floor and keep the profile light despite its 160cm width. At 67.1cm high and 50cm deep, it holds a generous footprint while staying low enough for the top to stay useful. We think the tambour doors do a lot of quiet work here, softening the lines and giving the front a rhythm that a plain panel never could.

Behind those doors there is room to store what needs putting away, with a max load of 15kg per shelf when weight is spread evenly. The top will take up to 50kg on the same even basis, so it happily holds a table lamp base, a stack of books or a run of ceramics. It weighs 42.5kg once built, and we have kept assembly to around 20 to 25 minutes. It is a piece we are proud to offer, and one we expect to earn its place for years.
