At 100cm wide, 50cm deep and 67cm tall, our Audacious Black Oak Cabinet in Hazelnut is a low, compact piece that settles neatly against a wall or beneath a window without crowding the room. It holds what you need close to hand, so it sits comfortably in a living room, a hallway or a bedroom. The top gives you a steady surface for a table lamp base, a stack of books or a few framed photographs, and the whole thing weighs 19.3kg, which keeps it easy for two of us to shift when you fancy a rearrange.

What we like most is the shape. The body is a rounded rectangular form with fluted tambour doors that slide rather than swing, wrapping across the front and curving round both ends. There are no hinges to clear and no flat front, so the ridged wood catches the light along its length and softens every corner. It stands on four round tapered legs that lift it off the floor and let the curves read cleanly from every angle. The Black Oak carries a warm Hazelnut across the tambour and the frame, a shade we think works as well in a bright room as it does by lamplight in the evening.
