Description

Clear glass squares sit in a close block under a polished chrome plate, held near the ceiling so the room stays open above head height. Four candle lamps light the glass from within, and the glass passes that light along so it scatters rather than pooling in one spot. At 27cm across it keeps a modest footprint for a fitting with this much sparkle, and the drop is short enough to read as part of the ceiling rather than something hung from it.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, an inner hall, a small double bedroom, or the turn of a staircase where headroom is tight. It works over a compact dining table in a low room too, and used in multiples along a corridor it gives an even wash without the shadows a single central fitting leaves. Dry rooms indoors are its territory, so we would keep it well away from shower rooms and porches. If you want it on a dimmer, ask for dimmable candle lamps, since the dimming lives in the lamp rather than in the fitting.

The frame is chrome with a polished sheen and the glass is clear throughout, and the pairing of the two is what gives the piece its brightness even with the lamps off. For upkeep, wipe the glass with a dry microfibre cloth now and then and lift dust from the corners with a soft brush, as sprays tend to leave a bloom on clear glass. It carries a one year warranty. The same square glass runs through the range, so it pairs happily with the wall light, the table lamp and the pendants where a room has height to spare, and this semi flush is also offered in antique brass.
