Made from steel, aluminium and acrylic, our Asteria LED Pendant Light is a considered choice for anyone who wants clean, unfussy overhead lighting. We have kept the form simple: a plain flat circular disc with a smooth unbroken top and a straight shallow rim, sitting on a slim central stem, with a single flat diffuser underneath to spread the light evenly. In this Medium version the disc measures 43cm in diameter and just 4cm tall, weighing 2.5kg, so it reads as a neat horizontal plane rather than a bulky fitting. It arrives complete with a 2.7m black textile cord and a metal canopy, and we reckon most people will have it assembled in around 10 minutes.

The built-in 16W LED panel gives 1300 lumen at a warm 3000K, with a CRI of 83 and a rated life of 25000 hours, so you get a comfortable, steady glow for kitchens, dining tables, hallways and living spaces. It is dimmable when paired with an external dimmer, which lets us fine-tune the mood from bright task lighting down to something softer of an evening. The fitting carries CE, UKCA (for indoor use), IP2X and cETLus markings, and we back it with our 10-year warranty. Should you ever fancy a change, you can swap the metal cover of the lamp in minutes to give the pendant a new look without replacing the whole thing.

This particular piece comes in a Saffron Yellow finish with a Black Top, a warm, sunny colour that lifts a neutral scheme and works nicely against pale walls or natural wood. We would hang it low over an island or table where the colour and the matt disc can be appreciated, or group two at different heights for a relaxed, informal feel. Wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth to keep it looking its best.
