Description

A small square face, 84mm across, with a hooded eyelid front that keeps the LED out of direct view and pushes light downward. The warm white output sits at 3000K, soft rather than clinical, and the sand black finish reads as a quiet dark square against brick or render. The driver comes with it and the LED is built in, so there is nothing to slot inside and nothing to swap later. It is switched on and off rather than dimmed.

We reach for this where a projecting fitting would be in the way: a narrow porch, the side of a step, a garden wall beside a gate, the length of a path. Set low, it grazes light across paving and marks a route without glare at eye level. Sealed against rain and dust, it copes in exposed spots as readily as under a covered entrance. Because each one gives a modest pool of light rather than broad cover, they tend to work best in a series, evenly spaced along a wall or repeated either side of a threshold.

The housing wears a fine textured sand black that hides fingermarks better than a gloss would and holds its matt look in bright sun. Keep the front clear: a wipe with a damp cloth now and then, and a soft brush to lift grit and cobwebs from under the eyelid, with the power off before you go near it. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same fitting in anthracite and in sand white, and there is a round eyelid version if you prefer softer edges. The angled square and round variants in this range aim their light a little differently, which is useful if you want the same look at a doorway and along a path without repeating exactly the same effect.
