Description
A small square face, barely wider than a light switch, sits into the wall so that the fitting itself all but disappears once the light is on. The aperture is angled, so the beam leaves to one side rather than straight ahead, washing the surface below in a soft warm white. Behind it sits an integrated LED drawing just 3W, with its driver supplied alongside. The finish is sand black, a fine matt texture that reads as a dark shadow by day and gives nothing back to the eye after dark.
We reach for these where a projecting bracket light would be in the way: along a flight of garden steps, down a narrow passage between house and boundary, either side of a front door where the reveal is shallow, or beneath a low retaining wall to pick out planting. The output is deliberately modest, enough to read the ground by without glare at eye level, so a few spaced along a run tend to work better than one on its own. It suits anyone who wants to see the path rather than the fitting.
The body is sealed against rain and driven spray, and the square face measures 80mm across. It is not dimmable, so an ordinary switch is all it asks for. Keeping it right is a matter of wiping the lens as the seasons turn and clearing leaf litter or cobwebs from the recess so the spread stays even. The LED is built in, so there is nothing to change over its life. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the range with round faces as well as square, and in anthracite and sand white if black looks too heavy against pale stone, plus eyelid versions where you would rather the light was shielded from above.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it?
It gives 210 lumens at 3000K, a warm white. That is a marker light rather than a floodlight, intended to define steps, edges and thresholds instead of lighting a whole garden.
Can the light be dimmed?
No, it is a non-dimmable fitting and should be run from a standard switched supply.
Is the LED replaceable?
The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to buy or swap. Rated life is 30,000 hours, which is many years of dusk-to-late use.
What size opening does it need?
The face is 80mm square and the required cut out is 72mm. Overall depth behind the face is 85mm.
Will it cope with a British winter?
Yes. It is rated IP65, so wind-driven rain and hose splash are not a problem. A wipe over the lens now and then keeps the beam clean.
Does it need a separate driver?
No, the driver is supplied with the fitting.
