Ashland Bay 5 Light Outdoor Chandelier - Weathered Zinc

The Ashland Bay is a five-light outdoor chandelier with a weathered zinc frame supporting five cylindrical lantern housings, each fitted with an E27 socket and clear seeded glass. The chandelier measures 663mm diameter and suspends on an adjustable rod from a circular ceiling canopy, with the drop adjustable between 624mm and 1473mm on installation. The IP44 rating allows use in covered outdoor positions exposed to rain spray and dust.

Designed for covered patios, verandas, pergolas and large porch entrances, the Ashland Bay provides area lighting across a 5-6m² space beneath the fitting. The five arms radiate from a central hub on a circular frame, spacing the lights evenly for balanced coverage. Each lantern housing holds a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose LED, filament or Edison-style bulbs depending on the desired light temperature and decorative effect. Most installations pair this with warm-white LED bulbs at 2700K-3000K for outdoor entertaining.

The weathered zinc finish is a dark grey-brown patina applied over steel, giving the frame a naturally aged appearance that sits comfortably against weathered timber, brick and stone exteriors. The seeded glass diffuses the bulb glare while maintaining visibility of the filament or LED element inside, casting a textured wash of light onto nearby surfaces. The combined frame, glass and chain give the chandelier a 7kg weight, requiring secure fixing to a joist or ceiling beam rated for the load. The three-year guarantee covers manufacturing defects but excludes wear from outdoor exposure or incorrect installation.

What does IP44 allow for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water spray from any direction. The Ashland Bay can be used in covered outdoor positions where it is not exposed to direct rain but may receive occasional spray or splashing. It is not suitable for fully exposed positions without a roof or canopy overhead.

What bulbs does it take?

Each of the five lanterns takes one E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor entertaining, warm-white LED bulbs at 2700K-3000K between 6-10W are typical, or decorative filament/Edison-style LEDs for a vintage appearance through the seeded glass.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is set during installation by shortening the suspension rod to the desired length between the minimum 624mm and maximum 1473mm. Once installed and wired, the height cannot be adjusted without removing the fitting and re-threading the cable through the rod.

What ceiling height is needed?

For a standard 2.4m outdoor ceiling, the minimum drop of 624mm positions the bottom of the chandelier at approximately 1.77m above floor level, which is clearance height for most people. For higher ceilings of 3m or above, the maximum drop of 1473mm can be used without the fitting sitting too low.
