Ascent Table Lamp - Black Column White Shade

The Ascent is a 790mm table lamp built around a tapered black-painted steel column with polished nickel accents at the top and base, topped with a 300mm white faux silk hard-backed shade. The column tapers from a 90mm square footprint at the base to a narrower profile at the lamp holder, creating a tall vertical form that suits console tables, bedside positions and desks where height is needed without taking up floor space.

Designed for bedside use, living room consoles, and home office desks, the Ascent provides ambient and task lighting through a single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W maximum). The white faux silk shade diffuses light softly in all directions while the hard backing holds the shade's shape and prevents sagging over time. The 450mm column height positions the shade at a comfortable level for reading when placed on a typical bedside table (500-600mm surface height).

The black steel column is finished in a low-sheen paint that resists fingerprints and pairs cleanly with both monochrome and warm-toned interiors. The polished nickel accents at the top finial and base add subtle reflective detail without dominating the overall form. The 90mm square base provides stability on typical bedside tables and console surfaces without requiring anchoring, and the lamp's 300mm overall width (including shade) fits comfortably on surfaces 400mm or wider.

What bulb does the Ascent take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or desk use.

Is the shade replaceable?

Yes. The shade is a separate component that sits on the lamp holder. If the shade becomes damaged or discoloured over time, replacement shades are available through Elstead Lighting or lighting specialists.

What surface width is needed?

The lamp's overall width including the shade is 300mm, so it fits comfortably on surfaces 400mm or wider. The 90mm square base footprint is compact enough for typical bedside tables (300-400mm wide) but the shade overhang should be considered.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The white faux silk shade can be dusted gently with a soft microfibre cloth or a feather duster. For deeper cleaning, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable but avoid soaking the fabric or using household sprays, which can stain or discolour the material.
