Description

A neat little track head finished in white, with a rounded shade 95mm across and an E27 socket sitting inside it. The maximum is 40W, and we would put an LED GLS globe in here: the shape follows the shade closely and the light it gives is soft rather than sharp. Dimming is possible if you pair a dimmable lamp with a matching dimmer, neither of which comes with the head.

Track suits rooms where the lighting needs to move about a bit. We reach for heads like this along a kitchen ceiling to bring light down onto a worktop, in a hallway where a pendant would be in the way, and above a run of shelves or pictures in a sitting room. Because it takes an ordinary screw-fit lamp rather than a small halogen type, you can change the character of the light simply by changing the bulb: warm and low for evenings, brighter and cooler for a home office or utility. It is a fitting for dry rooms indoors, running on a standard household circuit.

The white finish runs over the whole head, shade and body alike, which keeps it discreet against a pale ceiling. Dust it with a dry duster now and then, with the power off and the lamp cold, and keep polishes and solvents away from the paint. It carries a one year warranty.
