Description

The Artisan is a 54mm recessed downlight with a tiltable inner baffle housed within a matt black aluminium bezel. The fitting accepts a single GU10 bulb (sold separately) up to 10W and allows the inner cylinder to tilt on its axis, redirecting the light beam from straight-down to angled accent positions without moving the ceiling aperture.

Designed for residential and commercial spaces where directional accent lighting is needed in a low-profile recessed format, the Artisan suits living rooms, kitchens, retail display areas, galleries and hospitality interiors. The tilt mechanism allows light to be aimed at artwork, shelving, architectural features or worktop zones without installing multiple fixed downlights or resorting to surface-mounted spots. The 54mm cut-out fits standard downlight ceiling apertures and the shallow 141mm total depth works in typical UK ceiling voids with insulation clearance.

The inner baffle carries a textured black finish that reduces internal reflections and glare, giving a cleaner beam cut-off than smooth polished baffles. The outer bezel sits flush with the ceiling surface once installed, leaving only the matt black rim visible. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry interior locations — not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms or outdoor canopies. The aluminium construction keeps weight low while providing thermal stability for LED GU10 bulbs running at full output.

What bulb does it take?

The Artisan takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 10W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED GU10 between 5-7W and 2700K-3000K for residential accent lighting, or 4000K for retail and commercial display areas.

How much tilt adjustment is available?

The inner baffle tilts on its axis within the fixed outer bezel, allowing the beam to be angled from straight-down to approximately 30-40° off-axis. This is sufficient to redirect light onto a wall feature, artwork or shelving without needing to re-position the ceiling aperture.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry interior locations only. For bathrooms, shower rooms or other wet/damp areas, an IP65-rated downlight is required.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

The total fitting depth is 141mm from the ceiling surface to the top of the housing. A ceiling void of at least 150mm is recommended to allow clearance for the GU10 bulb and any insulation or fire hoods required by building regulations.
