Description

The Artisan is a 5-light chandelier in aged brass with five curved arms radiating from a central stem, each terminating in an open E14 candle socket. Hand-formed scrolls loop beneath each arm and a twisted knot detail runs down the central stem, ending in a turned brass finial. The aged brass finish shows tonal variation between lighter polished areas on high points and darker patina in recessed details.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Artisan provides wide overhead light when fitted with five candle bulbs (sold separately, up to 60W each). The 470mm diameter suits tables up to 1.8m long or open floor areas of 12-18m². The chandelier can be fitted as a chain-hung pendant (500-940mm adjustable drop) or converted to a semi-flush mount by removing the chain and fixing the canopy directly to the ceiling rose.

The scrollwork and knot details are formed by hand rather than cast, so each piece shows slight variation in the curve of the metalwork. The aged brass finish is applied over solid brass, which gives the fitting a substantial weight and prevents the finish from wearing through to plated base metal over time. The five arms are arranged symmetrically, with each arm carrying its own drip tray beneath the bulb holder.

What bulbs does the Artisan take?

The chandelier takes five E14 small Edison screw bulbs, up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional candle-flame appearance, or clear filament LED candles for a more decorative look when the lights are on.

Can it be fitted as a flush ceiling light?

Yes. The chandelier ships with chain and canopy for chain-hung installation, but can be converted to a semi-flush mount by removing the chain and fixing the canopy plate directly to the ceiling rose. This reduces the overall drop from ceiling to base of the fitting to approximately 500mm.

What ceiling height is needed for chain-hung installation?

The minimum drop of 500mm plus the 450mm body height means the base of the chandelier will hang 950mm below the ceiling at its shortest setting. For a dining table, this typically requires a ceiling height of 2.6m or above to maintain adequate head clearance. The chain can be shortened during installation to set the exact drop.

Is the aged brass finish lacquered?

Elstead Lighting typically applies a protective lacquer over aged brass finishes to prevent further tarnishing and to fix the patina. The finish can be wiped clean with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal polishes, which may strip the lacquer and alter the appearance of the patina.
