Description
The Artisan is a 2 light wall light built from hand-formed metal scrollwork finished in matt black, with a central twisted detail running down from the circular backplate. Each arm curves outward from the backplate, terminating in a shallow drip pan and candle sleeve that accepts an E14 candle bulb (sold separately). The scrollwork includes decorative knots at the joints and coiled terminals above the backplate.
Designed for hallways, staircases, living rooms and dining rooms where wall lighting needs to carry both functional and decorative weight, the Artisan provides accent lighting at eye level without requiring ceiling fittings. The two-arm configuration spreads light across a 300mm width, making it suitable for walls between doorways, alcoves flanking a fireplace, or corridor runs where multiple fittings can be spaced at 1.5-2m intervals. The backplate conceals standard UK wall box fittings and the fitting protrudes approximately 150mm from the wall.
The hand-formed metalwork means each piece carries slight variation in the curve of the scrolls and the spacing of the decorative knots — this is a characteristic of the forging process, not a defect. The matt black finish absorbs rather than reflects light, keeping the focus on the bulb glow and the shadow detail cast by the scrollwork onto the wall behind. The fitting accepts LED candle bulbs in either clear or frosted glass, with warm-white (2700K) being the most common pairing for traditional and transitional interiors.
Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The Artisan takes two E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle bulbs in warm white (2700K), either clear or frosted depending on whether exposed filament styling is preferred.
Can it be used in a bathroom?
This fitting carries no IP rating and is designed for dry interior use only. It is not suitable for bathrooms, shower rooms or outdoor installation.
How is it fitted to the wall?
The circular backplate fixes to a standard UK wall box or wall-mounted terminal block. The backplate diameter is approximately 120mm, and the fitting protrudes around 150mm from the wall once installed. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the bulbs used. LED candle bulbs marked as dimmable will work with most trailing-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if connected to a dimmer circuit.
