Description

A small clear glass shade set on satin black metalwork, this is a compact light for walls where a broader shade would crowd things. The glass is left plain so the lamp inside stays part of the look, and the black holds a soft satin sheen rather than a shine, which keeps fingerprints and water spots less obvious than a polished finish would. It takes a single G9 capsule, and we would fit an LED here. There is no switch on the body, so it runs from the wall switch or pull cord serving it.

At around 11cm wide it asks very little of a wall, which makes it useful either side of a mirror, above a basin, or in a cloakroom where space is tight. A pair flanking a bathroom mirror gives flatter, kinder light than one fitting overhead. Its splash resistance suits it to bathrooms, and it works just as happily in a hallway, on a landing or beside a bed. Dimming is possible where the capsule you choose is dimmable and a compatible dimmer is used. We reach for it in narrow rooms where a larger wall light would catch shoulders as people pass.

Glass and metal make up the whole fitting, and it is double insulated. To keep the shade clear, switch the power off, allow the glass to cool, then wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry at once so the black is left unmarked. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same wall light in polished chrome, and the range carries on into fixed pendants in both finishes if you want the look repeated over a table or stairwell. Lamps are not included.
