Description
This is a surface LED profile from our Arcus range: a black aluminium channel 3 metres long, with a section 9mm high and 8mm deep. It is the housing for an LED strip, not a complete light. The strip, the driver and the end caps are all sold separately, so you will need each of them before the profile gives any light. The channel takes a strip up to 5mm wide and rated at up to 8W per metre, which is the first thing to check when you choose one.
Because it fixes straight onto a surface rather than into a recess, there is no cutting into plasterboard or joinery. That makes it a practical way to add a line of light along a bookshelf, beneath a wall cupboard in a study, across the top of a wardrobe or round the edge of a display unit, where a bare strip stuck on its own would look unfinished. The black finish sits quietly against dark cabinetry and shadow gaps, and at 3 metres a single length covers a generous run without joins.
The body is aluminium in a narrow U-shaped section, with fine ribs running the full length of its outer faces, and the strip sits neatly inside the channel instead of lying exposed on the surface. It runs from a remote driver placed away from the profile, and as with any mains lighting, that driver is installed by a qualified electrician. The profile weighs 0.4KG. Before you order, measure your run and pick an LED strip no wider than 5mm and no more than 8W per metre, remembering that the driver and end caps are separate purchases.

Frequently Asked
Does the profile come with an LED strip?
No. The LED strip, the driver and the end caps are all sold separately, so the profile on its own is the black aluminium channel only.
What width of LED strip does it take?
It takes an LED strip up to 5mm wide with a rating of up to 8W per metre, so check both figures before choosing one.
How long is the profile and how big is its section?
It is 3 metres long, with a narrow section 9mm high and 8mm deep, so it stays discreet along a shelf or cabinet.
Does it need a driver?
Yes. The strip runs from a remote driver sited away from the profile, and the driver is sold separately, so it is worth choosing alongside the strip.
Is it recessed or surface mounted?
It is a surface profile, fixed straight onto a shelf, cupboard or panel, so there is no need to cut a recess into plasterboard or joinery.
What finish is it?
The aluminium channel is black, with fine ribs along its outer faces that give the length a crisp, finished look against dark cabinetry.
