Andromeda Lamp Shade 12cm - Clear

Shaped like an upturned wine glass, this small glass shade tapers from a rounded bowl into a slim neck. The outer glass is clear, so you see straight through to the inner frosted funnel held within it, and that funnel does the work of softening the light and keeping the lamp out of direct view. At 12cm across it is a modest piece, meant to be read as part of a group rather than alone. We like the way the clear body keeps a fitting looking light while the frosted core holds glare down.

It is a replacement or an upgrade for fittings built around this style of glass: multi-light bars, single drops over a breakfast bar, wall lights flanking a mirror. The clear finish suits modern kitchens and dining rooms, and it works especially well where the fitting itself is dark, because the outer glass all but disappears and the funnel reads as the bright part. No, it is a glass shade only. Any lamp and its holder belong to the host fitting it is used on.

Why is there a second, frosted glass inside?

How should I clean it?

Take the shade off the fitting, then use a lint-free cloth for dust and fingerprints. For heavier marks, a cloth barely damped with warm soapy water works, followed by a dry buff. Avoid abrasive creams and pads.

How heavy is it?

Around 0.14kg, so it adds very little to the fitting it sits on.

Can I mix finishes across a multi-light fitting?
