Description
This amethyst tree of life ornament brings a small purple tree indoors, its branches thick with 1500 amethyst beads. A wrapped gold-toned trunk rises from a white rocky base and divides into many fine wire branches. Each branch is twisted out to hold its own cluster of purple chips, so the canopy looks full from every side. The purples run from soft lilac to deep plum, and more chips are scattered over the top of the base, carrying the colour right down to the roots. It stands 37.2cm tall, 22.5cm wide and 16.7cm deep, a good size to hold its own on a shelf or sideboard without crowding it.
Because it is finished all the way round, the tree works well wherever it can be seen from more than one side: the middle of a dining table, a hall console, a mantelpiece or a bedside table. The purple and gold sit happily with warm woods, cream walls and soft neutrals, and the white base gives it a clean, natural footing against a darker surface. It is freestanding, so it needs no wall or fixing, and it suits a bookshelf or a desk in a quiet study just as well. A tree of life is a long-loved motif, which makes this a thoughtful gift as well as a piece for your own home.
The beads are threaded onto fine wire and the trunk is wrapped in gold-toned wire, so this is a decorative piece to be looked at rather than moved about often. Lift it by the base, never by the branches, and keep it on a level surface where it will not be knocked. To care for it, dust the canopy now and then with a soft, dry brush and wipe over the base with a soft dry cloth. We like it near a window or lamp, where the purple chips catch the light.
