Description

The Ambledale table lamp stands 760mm tall, which is generous for a table lamp, with metalwork in an antique brass finish and twin candle lamps under a champagne coloured fabric shade. It measures 460mm wide and 305mm deep, so it needs a proper console, sideboard or side table rather than a narrow shelf. Two E14 candle bulbs of up to 40W each are needed and are supplied separately. At 3.4kg it has enough weight to sit steadily without being awkward to move when you are dusting around it.

Two lamps under one shade give a fuller light than a single bulb, which makes this a useful lamp for a hallway console, a sitting room sideboard, a wide bedside table or a study desk where you read on paper. We would happily use a pair at either end of a sideboard, and it is tall enough to light a face at seated height rather than only the table top. Antique brass and champagne fabric suit older houses, but they also soften a plain modern room and warm up grey and off white paint.

It is a Class 2 double insulated lamp, so no earth connection is needed. It is not listed as dimmable, so use standard switching and choose a warmer, lower output bulb if you want the light gentler in the evening.
