Description
The Ambledale five light chandelier spreads 710mm across, with five curved arms in an antique brass finish, each carrying a candle lamp under a champagne coloured fabric shade. The drop adjusts between 450mm and 1550mm when it is installed, so the same fitting can hang low over a dining table or high in a hallway with a stair running past it. Five E14 candle bulbs of up to 40W each are needed and are supplied separately. At 3.6kg it is light for a chandelier of this width, which keeps the fixing straightforward.
This is the fitting for a dining room, a wide hallway or a sitting room that needs one central light doing real work. Five smaller lamps under fabric shades give a softer and more even result than a single bright pendant, and the shades keep the bulbs out of sight from the table. It suits period houses, farmhouse kitchens and rooms with panelling or a picture rail, and it takes the edge off a plain white ceiling. Rated IP20, it is an indoor fitting for dry rooms, not for bathrooms or covered porches.
It is wired as a Class 1 earthed fitting, so it needs an earth at the ceiling rose and a qualified electrician to install it. It is dimmable when dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch are used, which we would always do over a dining table. Brush the fabric shades with a soft brush, wipe the metalwork with a dry cloth, and keep brass polish and abrasive creams away from the antique finish. A matching three light pendant covers smaller rooms, and the Ambledale wall lights carry the same shades at eye level.

Frequently Asked
How wide is it?
710mm across the five arms, which suits a dining table of about 900mm or more, or a hallway with room to walk around it.
What height does it hang at?
The drop adjusts from 450mm to 1550mm and is set during installation, so agree the height with your electrician first.
Which bulbs does it take?
Five E14 candle bulbs of up to 40W each, supplied separately. Warm white LED candles keep the shades cool and the light soft.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch, which is the usual choice above a dining table.
How do I clean the shades?
Brush the fabric with a soft brush and wipe the metal with a dry cloth. Avoid brass polish and abrasive creams, which strip the antique finish.
Is it heavy to fix?
It weighs 3.6kg, which is modest for its width, but the fixing should still be checked by the electrician fitting it.
